Building Homes For Abandoned Children
FAQs
Who builds the homes?
One Less works with Angel House Rescue Orphanage a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to build the homes in India. For everyone that donates to One Less a detailed giving receipt is furnished to each donor for tax purposes at the end of each calendar year.
How are the House Parents chosen?
The Angel House International staff chooses the house parents based on the following criteria:
Credibility- as an Indian citizen
Experience- capability to perform the job
Interviews- over a couple of months with trusted referrals
Accountability- Financial background check
Once the House Parents clear all requirements, they are trained in the areas of Leadership, Safety, and Parenting.
Additionally, regular unannounced visits are made to each homes to ensure they are operated according to standards.
Once the home is fully built, how is it financially sustained?
In most cases, the long-term financial support comes from non-profits in the immediate community. A new home will not be built until there is a financially sustainable system in place. This enables the community to involve themselves in giving back to the most vulnerable in their region.
Are the children in the homes available for US adoption?
It is our desire that each and every child that we rescue be a part of a loving family that will care for and look after them for the rest of their lives. However, due to lack of paperwork with many of these children they have challenges in being available for adoption. If you or anyone wishes to do an International adoption, we encourage you to find an agency that does offer this service.
